The turning point came in 1932 with the founding of the Consejo Regulador. It was like a shot of adrenaline, infusing the region with structure and purpose. No longer merely selling wine in bulk, Utiel-Requena began to find its place in Spain’s grand vinous tapestry. The union of Utiel and Requena forged a DO rich in both history and flavour.

Today, this land is a symphony of balance. Bobal, the reigning grape, thrives here with its thick skins and deep, dark essence. But it's not alone. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon have staked their claims, adding layers of complexity and a chorus of flavours.

Now, let’s delve into Pagos - individual vineyards or estates so unique they receive their own DO status, the highest ranked DO status in the Spanish classification system, in fact.
